Valentine's Dinner: 5 restaurants with special menus for the big day

Valentine’s Day is a special time of year spent with that special someone. If you’re looking to share a romantic dinner with someone special in your life, look no further. Here are five restaurants around Northern Utah offering unique menus for Valentine’s Day. 

Reservations are strongly encouraged to ensure space, so reserve your spot soon. 

Hearth on 25th

Reservations are required and seating will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. Credit card information is required to confirm all reservations and a fee will be charged for those who do not follow through with reservations. 

Pre-Appetizer: Carrot panna cotta, pea cream, meyer lemon extra virgin olive oil and micro Thai basil.

Appetizer: Seasonal cheese and meat charcuterie board or pork terrine, assorted pickled veg, burnt apple gel and blood orange gel.

Soup and Salad: Smoked tomato consomme, bronze fennel, and parmigiano reggiano; or grapes, cranberries, candied walnut, pear, Gorgonzola and mixed greens Gorgonzola vinaigrette. 

Intermezzo: Grapefruit sorbet, cranberry pear gastrique and candied grapefruit.

Entree: Salmon, creamy herb risotto, pickled apple and meyer lemon extra virgin olive oil; New York steak, roasted cherry tomato, grilled portabello mushroom, shallot puree and red wine jus; or game bird, malt glazed barley, roasted carrot and parsnip, carrot puree and honey jus. 

Desert: Caramel apple bar, caramel sause, candied apple chip and spiced ice cream; or chocolate cake, macerated berries, raspberry ice cream and dark chocolate. 

Cost: Six-course tasting menu, $65 per person. Beverage pairing, $25.

• Twig’s Bistro and Martini Bar

Appetizer: Pan-seared sea scallops with a sweet pea and garlic puree topped with a bacon gremolata and micro greens, $16.99. 

Entrees: Butter-poached Maine lobster with fresh herbs and lemon zest wrapped in fresh pasta served in a delicate saffron cream sauce and topped with tarragon leaves, $28.99; or, flat iron steak over a creamy parsnip puree with a truffle mushroom fricassee, served with charred organic rainbow carrots and sauteed prawns, $36.99. 

Dessert: Three layers of rich and fluffy buttermilk red velvet cake with vanilla mascarpone frosting and edible flowers, $7.99.

Zucca Trattoria

The five-course gourmet dinner will be available from 5–9 p.m. Feb. 10, 11, 13 and 14. Valentine’s reservations are strongly recommended.

Appetizer to share: Lobster and shrimp fonduta or grilled sage polenta.

First course: Strawberry salad or pappa al pomodoro.

Second course: House made squid ink pasta frutti di mare or red beet risotto.

Third course: Veal short ribs, seared duck breast, or grilled ahi tuna steak. 

Dessert: Flourless chocolate decadence cake.

Cost: $50 per person, $20 wine pairing.

Mandarin

The Bountiful restaurant is offering its regular menu on Valentine’s Day in addition to special items created for two people.

Appetizer: Sampler plate with pork pot stickers, salmon spring roll and crab cream cheese wontons, $3.99 per person. 

Entree: Black bean salmon stir-fry, $14.99.

Desert: Sampler plate made up of chocolate fallen angel cake with Nutella ice cream, raspberry vanilla creme broulee and an apple cherry spring roll, $10.49.

Harley and Buck’s

Special menus will be offered Feb. 10-11 and the regular dinner menu will not be offered on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. 

First course: Vegetable croquettes with chipotle aioli; or shrimp ravioli in browned butter.

Second course: Savory butternut squash soup.

Third course: Organic greens with mandarin and mango served with a citrus dressing.

Main course: Chicken stuffed with creme cheese and spinach finished with a plobano sauce; beef tenderloin finished with a mushroom cognac sause and butter poached lobster tail; or pan seared french lamb chops.

Dessert: Combination of chocolate cake, espresso mousse, mango and a chocolate glaze.

Cost: $30-50 depending on menu choices.
